Nurulhusna Qamaruz Zaman
Senior Lecturer at UiTM MARA
PhD in Human Geography [University of Birmingham]

We are happy to have urban design researcher and architecture studio tutor Nurulhusna joining our Jury Panel of #mOOO2 [POPS] LONDON!

Currently working as a lecturer in the COS Architecture at the Universiti Teknologi MARA since 2005. Nurulhusna began her teaching career in UiTM Perak in 2005 and moved to UiTM Shah Alam in 2008. With 11 years’ experience in the academic field at three campuses, Nurulhusna had significant exposure on many levels of Architectural Studies both at the Bachelors and Masters Degree level. Prior to pursuing her PhD Degree, she was entrusted to lead Urban Design Studio with fellow colleagues in which several collaborations with the local government were achieved such as Sepang Municipal Council for Cyberjaya Urban Design Guidelines and PKNS real estate for the rejuvenation of Shah Alam centre.

Apart from teaching, she is passionate about research in the field of urban design, related to community-based urban regeneration, and placemaking. Undertaking an ethnographic approach to her PhD fieldwork had allowed me to understand the practice of urban design in Malaysia while being attached to two local authorities and a place-based organization, especially in the area of participatory placemaking urban centres. She is registered as a graduate member of the Board of Architects (LAM number AG/N 327), and a member of newly formed Malaysian Urban Design Association (PEREKABANDAR).
