Viviana Muscettola’s comments on Morpheus Hotel in Macau:
Macau’s buildings have previously referenced architecture styles from around the world. Morpheus has evolved from its unique environment and site conditions as a new architecture expressly of this city.
The expertise of all members of the Morpheus team has created new possibilities for architecture. The comprehensive parametric model combined all of the hotel’s aesthetic, structural and fabrication requirements and will radically change how our built environment is planned and constructed.
Morpheus Hotel by team ZHA has received numerous international awards. These include 2019 Building of the Year Award by voted by readers of ArchDaily, the Prix Versailles Award and most recently the CTBUH Award of 2019 Best Tall Building Worldwide. TIME Magazine also listed Morpheus Hotel as one of the World’s Greatest Places in terms of quality, originality, innovation, sustainability and influence.
other international projects by Zaha Hadid Architects
Both of our jurors from Zaha Hadid Architects have extensive experience in projects based in Asia, especially in Macau. The mOOO team is sure that they would evaluate all our competition entries in the most fitting ways.
While there is no doubt that the design of Morpheus Hotel has a great influence on the city-scape of Macau, we are yearning to see what creative proposals we will receive that could transform the city of Macau.
