Studio leaders from the University of Edinburgh joining #mOOO2
Dr Chris French is Lecturer in Architecture and Contemporary Practice at the University of Edinburgh. He received his PhD Architecture by Design from the University of Edinburgh in 2015, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. His research follows two threads: an investigation into critical forms of representation in relation to the production of the political, architectural imaginary; and the relationship between architecture, and agricultural and urban landscapes. Central to both of these interests is design-research and design-practice. Chris has worked in architectural practice in Scotland and Spain, and is a co-founder and director of the Atelier for Architecture: at-018.studio and co-founder and editor of the architectural research by design e-journal DRAWING ON.
Dr Maria Mitsoula is a registered architect in the UK (ARB) and Greece (TEE/TCG), an architectural design tutor at the Universities of Edinburgh and Newcastle and an independent researcher. Maria received a Diploma in Architecture from NTUA, an MSc in Advanced Architectural Design and a PhD in Architecture by Design from the University of Edinburgh, funded by IPEP and Eugenides Foundation. Her interests are informed by: the relationships between geology, ecology, architecture and the city; the materiality of the architectural façade (opsis) and its construction as material image; and the architectural practices of travelling, surveying and logging. Maria is co-founder and editor of the architectural research by design e-journal DRAWING ON and co-founder and director of the Atelier for Architecture: at-018.studio.
